Great Price Vegan with a Vengeance : Over 150 Delicious, Cheap, Animal-Free Recipes That Rock

Vegan with a Vengeance : Over 150 Delicious, Cheap, Animal-Free Recipes That Rock Review

Whether you just want to have a veggie night a few times a week or month, or make a full switch to being vegan, or have been one for years, or just want to go vegan for a spell to help clear up breakouts, this is truly a unique book.

While I have many vegan and vegetarian cookbooks, some I wind up giving away because the recipes taste like you are cooking for health only, rather than for gourmet consuming. Whether you want to be vegan or not, you really can have the best of both worlds. Not only do these dishes make you forget they are vegan, they contain ingredients you have heard of and don't require an internet search to find or figure out.

But yes, they are healthy...and full of protein and all the things a full-time vegan would want in their diet for optimum energy.

In fact, many dishes are far better to me than the original version. I love, for example, the peach cobbler. Removing milk and eggs in this cobbler crust simply make it healthier in eliminating the added fat, not healthier tasting. It's great!

There is a great ricotta in here that isn't ricotta...really supreme in any stuffed shells or lasagna. Great pizza recipes, a really good homemade veggie burger recipe, curried tempeh mango salad sandwiches that were truly gourmet, pumpkin waffle, very moist muffin recipes, a green thai curry we love, wonderful spring rolls...

The recipes are easy to make and obviously flavor was thought out...not just eliminating something from a regular recipe to change it up for the cookbook.

Negatives: None for the recipes. Haven't had a bad one yet. If you are in need of pictures, this book contains just a few in middle inserts. However, those are nice, large, and in full-color. That's never a big deal to me but I know some want pics with their recipes. The paper is regular book paper rather than glossy so it's not so easy to wipe clean if that's important.

It's a big cookbook at just under 260 pages so you get quite a varitey.

Conclusion: This is actually my favorite vegan cookbook.
